How to create a gift card button

This document will detail how to make a button for a gift card purchase.

 

Creating the gift card button

  1. Navigate to the POS tab and open the PLU section.

  2. Find a folder that makes sense to contain gift card sale and right click to addcreate a new PLU.

    2. Right

      click on Charges category to see the option to "Add New Item"image.png



  3. A new PLUItem will be created.

    1. Name the PLU and give it an icon.

      1. We have a gift card icon that I willcan be using for this.

  • Set up the Items Associations section
    1. Set Tax type to Non-Tax
    2. Set Reporting Group to Gift Cards

  • Set the DefaultPricing Priceand toAvailability zero
      as it wont save unless there is something in
    1. Check the defaultbox pricefor section."Variable Then set the variable Priced checkboxPriced" so that you can enter the price of the gift card when it is purchased.

  • Click

    Set up the PLU Associations section then press save.

  • After you have saved the documentItem, opengo to the Advanced tab and

      change
    1. Change PLUItem Type in the PLUItem Details section to the Gift Card Sale.

    Creating the Gift card type settings

    1. If you would like to set the system to prompt for a customer name or print the gift card balance when a sale is complete navigate to the POS tab and select the Gift cards section.

    2. Select the Gift card types tab and click the pencil to edit the gift card type.

    3. Select any options you would like to add to the gift card then press update to save.

    4. You can create multiple gift card types, however, a PLU can only have one type. If you create a new type of gift card you will need to make a separate gift card sale PLU for each type you would like represented in your system. The GIF below will detail how to create and add the new gift card type to a PLU.
